AS POLICEMEN, they should have known better than to take money that should have been properly reported and seized.
But out of the three officers, only one rebuffed a colleague when he distributed “dirty money” in Kebun Baru Neighbourhood Police Post (NPP) on Jan 24 last year.
The money had allegedly been found in an unscheduled raid earlier that day.
The four men were seated in the NPP’s rest area when Sergeant Elvilin Tay Sheo Tang pushed $50 across the table towards his group leader, Staff Sergeant Zulkifli Mohamad.
But when Staff Sgt Zulkifli picked up the note, he said: “This is dirty money.”
Then he put it down on the table.
